WHAT IS INKTOBER?
Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year, during the month of October, with 30 pre-generated prompts to follow!
Inktober 2021 was a milestone for me, since I took to painting digital hyper realistic pieces on a daily basis. It was the first time I tried anything like this, so even though I wasn't able to finish all 30 prompts, I made it to 18 pieces and I'm really proud of that. Most of these paintings had references from the internet, since my goal was to get the technique of highlights, strokes textures and shadows right.
In the very beginning, the paintings took me about three to four hours to complete. As the days progressed, I surprised myself by reducing the duration by more than half!
